Expat Life & Adventure Travel
Hi, I'm Elise!
Nearly nine years ago, I packed my life into two bags and bought a one-way ticket to England. I was absolutely terrified – of leaving my friends and family behind, of my visa being rejected at the border, of taking this giant leap of faith. I was only 23 years old.
Now, of course, I can look back and say that it’s the best decision I ever made. Living abroad has given me a sense of freedom, pushed my boundaries, opened my eyes to different experiences and cultures, and given me an outlet for travel to the rest of the world. In a weird way, it’s also given me an appreciation for what it means to live in America.
Since moving, I’ve been approached by more and more people asking what it’s like to be an expat, and what avenues I took to get my visa and move abroad. It’s for this reason that I’ve started cataloguing my experiences, blogging about my adventures, and (many) mishaps while living in a foreign country. My plan is to span my experience of the technicalities of dealing with the HMRC, to my travels, to everyday life of living in England. Becoming an expat can be a lonely process, and if my experiences help just one person, I’ll be satisfied. I hope you’ll join me in this adventure!
I'm so glad you're here!
